Renfro

Mark Renfro has been making things with his hands since he could hold a screwdriver. He grew up crawling through attics, fixing what was broken, and teaching himself whatever made him curious. Before renovation, that instinct took him into the music world, running AV for touring bands and large venues, where precision, pressure, and creative problem solving were non-negotiable. Today, that same discipline and creative fire shape every project we take on.

Mark is a licensed contractor who believes good work should outlast trends. Full gut remodels, custom carpentry, strange angles, slat walls, and hard to solve details are where he is most at home. If it is built, it is built to last and built with intention.

None of this works without Taylor.

Taylor Renfro is the design engine behind Renfro Renovation. She is a fine artist and visual strategist with an instinct for space, proportion, and feeling. She can walk into a gutted room and see what it wants to become. Taylor shapes the layout, flow, finishes, and overall character of each project, not to decorate, but to give it meaning. Beauty is assumed. Thoughtfulness is the goal.

We are also raising three kids while running this studio, which means we live what we build. Our house is loud, creative, imperfect, and constantly evolving, covered in sketches, sawdust, and half formed ideas. That lived in honesty comes with us into every project.

Renfro Renovation is a studio, not a sales machine. Based in Powell and working throughout Knoxville, we stay intentionally small so we can stay hands on, detail obsessed, and deeply involved from the first conversation to the final screw. We do not chase volume. We choose projects that matter.

If you are looking for cookie cutter work, there is plenty of that out there.

If you are looking for something real, intentional, and well made, let’s build it.

We Live for Projects that Start like This

a napkin sketch, a half-baked idea, a scribble from your kid that somehow feels right.

This one became a full corner build. Floating shelves, hidden lighting, all dialed in by hand. No Pinterest template. No prefab. Just vision + sawdust.

If you’ve got something rattling around in your head, we’d love to help you build it.

Let’s make it real. And have fun doing it.

  • We specialize in high-quality remodels, custom carpentry, built-ins, and creative renovations.

That includes bathrooms, shelving, wall treatments, cabinetry, and more.

If it’s something we don’t handle ourselves, we can usually point you to someone great who does.

  • Yep. We’re licensed, insured, and bonded in the state of Tennessee. We take our work and your home seriously.

Mark’s Home Improvement License number is 11597, he’s working on getting his GC-BC right now.

Insurance and bond paperwork available upon request.

  • It depends on the scope, materials, and timeline — but we always provide clear, upfront estimates. No vague quotes or surprise costs. You’ll know exactly what you're getting before we swing a hammer.

  • Yes. We provide no-pressure consultations and free written estimates. Fill out the form or text Mark, and we’ll get back to you quickly.

Mark will come and meet you and look at the project, write up a proposal with scope of work and a price range. If you change your mind, no big deal.

  • That depends on your project and our current schedule. Sometimes we can jump in within a week or two, other times we’re booking a bit further out — but we’ll always be honest about our timeline.

  • If it’s something simple and we’ve got room in the schedule, absolutely. Just reach out and we’ll let you know if it’s a fit.

  • Yes. You’ll work directly with Mark and Taylor — no salespeople or layers of bureaucracy. We keep things personal, clear, and professional.

If there is need for a subcontractor, Mark will let you know at the estimate meeting and coordinate appropriately.

All of our subs go through a rigorous qualification process. If they’re working in your home, it’s because we trust them and their work.

  • We’re based in Powell and serve most of the Knoxville area — including Bearden, Fountain City, Farragut, and surrounding neighborhoods.

  • Yes — we love getting involved early. Whether you know exactly what you want or just have a vibe in mind, we can help shape the design and suggest creative, functional solutions.

  • Sometimes, depending on the job. We have a trusted network of licensed, reliable pros we’ve worked with for years — and we stay involved to manage the full process.
